Change of seasons means changing the chalkboard at the church. Since I am the designated 'chalkboardista'....I spent the better part of two days at work on this. Dang 4' X 6' is big!! Anyway, with the exceptions of the picayune details that bug me, it turned out fine. Too bad this season is so brief...4 short weeks and it will need to be changed to a winter theme. That's a painful OY!

Repetition. Repetez, s'il vous plait and all that. I used an image and repeated it in several different ways across the spread. Photo transfer, stencil, masked, rubber-stamping, partial masked...primarily acrylic paints.

I love the hunt. Flea markets, yard sales, even common parking lots yield up flotsam-jetsam to turn into treasures. You never know what you might use, so I have brilliantly kept an ongoing box of stash....just in case the mood strikes....

I am a layer freak. Me and layers...BFF. Of course, that is directly related to my other affliction, which I moaned about here . Enablers to each other! Oh the dilemma.
Anyway, having just filled another journal, I was looking back over it and thought I would post one of my fave background pages. One of those spreads I loved so much, I just couldn't put anything else on it. Forever consigning it to the 'Background Only' category.

Sci-Fi fan, I am not. Hardly even like fantasy of any kind. But I do love the art of James Christensen ....have you seen it? If not, treat yourself to some very detailed, fantastical works! I was lucky enough to see his work in a gallery in Utah...the pieces are enormous. He is a doodler's dream. Every inch of these whimsical paintings has detail that will surprise you. Frequently, he includes little pet fish in most pieces. Some are trailing behind, some on a leash, some being ridden and others used as musical instruments! What you see below is not remotely like it. But....I had to give it a try, because it was just fun!

Been a while. I am not completely vegging, but have been busy with other things. Preparing art projects and samples, for the kids at school, takes a lot of time! In the meantime, my art journals and sketching have taken the back burner. I find inspiration at so many of your blogs, and finally, I was overpowered and cranked this out last night. I use a 10 X 10 journal, so I can never quite scan an entire page...but here is the gist of it....

We had a record 48 trick or treaters this year. A large increase from our first year in this house--a whopping 4 kids! I think that is a good thing. I think!
One little neighbor girl, Amaiah, came by with her parents, and as she played with Lily, her mother captured a couple of very cute shots. I just had to post them
.....looks like Amaiah was Lily's treat for the evening!
