By the time you are reading this, I will be in CA for An Artful Journey! This art retreat is being held in Los Gatos, CA, and I will be taking a class with DJ Pettitt. However, my artsy friend, Deb, and I will be going out a few days early to enjoy the Monterey Penninsula. We will be lounging around this beautiful inn...the Jabborwock. Sketching, catching some sun, checking out life on the left coast. Re-entry to real life will be hard!
I wanted a fresh, new journal for the trip, so I made a new Remains of the Day (Mary Ann Moss) journal to take along. Instead of the cover that Mary Ann teaches, I decided to just bind my signatures in a hardcover book that I had on hand. I also left more 'open' space for sketching and painting, than I had in previous ROD journals. Here is a look inside
.......now to fill 'er up!
Oh; I will be thinking of you and Deb enjoying your Artful Journey! I'm so happy for the both of you! This is a fantastic journal you've made! Enjoy!

What a gorgeous journal!! I wish I could come visit so you could show me how to make these! On my blog, I actually had spent some time looking up books on Amazon on how to make these after reading your last entry on these hand made journals. Now...to buy one! LOL This is beautiful; quite a work of art in and of itself. Hope you have a great time; I know you will!

Beautiful journal, love the hardback book covers! Gotta figure that one out, but I DO love sewing the covers, too. Have a great time and enjoy filling your wonderful book!

Love the journal. Not quite sure how you sewed the signatures in. Did you punch holes through the spine of the book?

I've been collecting the covers of Reader's Digest books. They often have such interesting covers- I cut out the book block and recycle it and then ferret away the cover. I have a bunch and have no idea what to do with them. You've given me a great idea! Thank you so much. Your journal is lovely -enjoy filling it up and, if you care to, show us again when you've finished it.

I hope you'll post this filled up when you come back! I want to do my next journal with more room for painting and drawing and am glad to see an example of a journal made like this. Have a great time!

Can't wait to see how you used this on your travels. I loved using my ROD journal in Spain. I'm also making them now with more room for journaling and painting and adding photos.
